Step 1 - Contact
Your MP
Step 2 - Join
and/or Donate to AME
Step 3 - Get
Involved
Step 4 - Stand Up For Yourself and Your Family
Step 5 -

Step 1 - Contact your MP
The most important contribution you can make to
the campaign for equal marriage rights is to contact
your federal member of parliament.

It is vital that your local federal member of
parliament knows how important equality
is to you.
If you are unsure
which federal electorate you live in or who your
local MP is, find out here:
http://apps.aec.gov.au/esearch/
(Australian Electoral Commission website).
You can also find your local MP's
(House of Representatives) contact details
here:
●
MPs in name order
●
MPs by electorate
All contact, even a
pro forma email or letter, is useful. Even more
effective is a personally written email, letter or
phone call.
But nothing
beats a personal visit.
MPs need to meet
those of us effected by Australia's discriminatory
marriage laws and our families and friends. The more
of us they meet, the more difficult it becomes for
them to justify the current unequal marriage laws.
If you would like
further advice on what to say or how to approach
your MP, or to let us know how your meeting went,
send us an email at
ame@australianmarriageequality.com
Step 2 - Join
and/or donate to AME*
As a membership based
organisation, AME relies entirely on the generosity of its members
and other supporters in the community.
Even the best plans fail without funding.
Your financial
contribution will assist us in our work enormously.
You can also join
or make a donation by downloading the
membership form and mailing it to:

Step 3 - Get
involved
Get involved in the campaign (or bring the
campaign to your town).
AME is seeking
individuals who could set up a local branch to lobby
local MPs and educate the community on Australia's
current discriminatory marriage laws.
Let us know if you
would like to become involved at:
ame@australianmarriageequality.com
STEP 4 - STAND UP FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY
Some couples and
individuals have been very successful at challenging
marriage discrimination head on with employers,
service providers, clubs and government agencies.
Such direct
challenges are an important way to chip away at
discrimination.
This may be easier
for some than for others. If you would like any
advice or assistance with taking a stand against
marriage discrimination you may face, let us know at
ame@australianmarriageequality.com
STEP 5 -
INVITE YOUR FRIENDS
Ours is a grass-roots campaign so we are
counting on you to spread the word. The easiest way
to do that is to invite your friends, family, work
colleagues and other supporters of equality to visit
our website.
When they visit our
website, they will see how easy it is to make a
difference in this fight for human rights. The more
people you invite, the more our resources and
support will grow.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful,
committed citizens can change the world. Indeed,
it's the only thing that ever has."
