Supported the Marriage Legislation
Amendment Bill 2004 which banned same-sex
marriage.
Was quoted in
The Australian on 3 January 2006:
"I
don't favour recognition for civil
unions because I think marriage is a
heterosexual construct, and I doubt it
would be popular amongst homosexual
couples, given that it's not a
homosexual concept. I think there are
some things that are heterosexual and
some things that are homosexual
concepts, and marriage is really a
heterosexual concept. I can't see the
logic in allowing same-sex couples to
marry when it's not really logical."
