The New Zealand MP sponsoring a bill to legalise homosexual marriage says eventually Pacific Island people will come to accept the idea.
Opposition Labour Party MP Louisa Wall says while there is widespread opposition to gay marriage from Pacific church leaders, many younger Pacific people support it.
