Meet with your MP

Our Parliament wants to hear your views

The Australian Parliament has voted for a motion which calls on all MPs to gauge their constituents’ views on allowing same-sex couples to marry.

Australian Marriage Equality urges you to write to your local MP explaining why you support the issue. We also urge you to seek a meeting with your MP. Personal stories from real people make the difference.

What do I do?

If you’re in a same-sex relationship, if you want the right to marry, if you are the family member or friend of a gay or lesbian person, now is the time to make your voice heard.

It’s easy to do:

Include your personal details, and your views, in the fields below, select your postcode, and your letter will be sent directly to your federal representatives.

The letter will be cc’d to Australian Marriage Equality so we can keep track of how which politicians are responding.

After you have sent your letter you will have the option to email five friends and relatives asking them to do the same. You will also be able to download useful background materials about making the case for marriage equality, making the most of your meeting, and what the level of support is in your electorate.
